It saddens me that school districts in general are not funding libraries like they did back in the 70s. Many schools in San Diego Unified have had either their Librarian or their Library Technician, or both, cut. Many schools do not receive any funds for purchasing new library books. When I started working at my school we had 150 subscriptions to magazines. Now we have none. I have been very lucky to retain my job, and we still have our librarian. It shows that our principal believes in the library as an important part of the educational process.
